🚆 French Police Suspect Sabotage After Train Derailment Injures 44
A regional train derailed in Normandy, France, Friday evening, injuring 44 people and sending one 18-year-old passenger to the hospital by helicopter, as investigators now probe whether the crash was deliberate sabotage.
The TER train, carrying 186 passengers, was traveling between Rouen and Caen when it derailed near Cléon in the Seine-Maritime department.
A police spokesperson said a piece of rail found on the tracks near the derailment site was “probably” connected to the crash, opening a sabotage investigation.
The incident echoes past French rail disasters, including a 2013 derailment that killed seven and a 2015 TGV crash that killed 11.
